Suggest a Junior award

What kind of award should we add for young founders? This is an anonymous idea box, not a nomination or entry. We do not ask for a child’s name or contact details. Please do not include anyone’s name, school, email, phone number or photo. Ask a parent or guardian to review the idea before sending.

Make their story count

Young, bold and already making waves. Junior IGNICON honors young achievers who show talent, kindness, grit or leadership beyond their years. Recognition this early can light a fire that lasts a lifetime. Every nomination is managed by a parent or legal guardian; young people do not apply for themselves.

Who should be nominated

  • Kids and teens who started a project, club or small business
  • Young artists, athletes, coders, writers or performers
  • Students who help their school, family or community in a big way
  • Young people who overcame hard times and kept going
  • An achiever aged 6–17 a parent, guardian, teacher or coach believes in

Tips for guardians and nominators

  1. Tell their story in plain words. What did they do, and why does it matter?
  2. Share proof, kindly. A certificate, a photo of the project or a note from a teacher helps.
  3. Highlight character, not just trophies. Effort, heart and helping others count.
  4. Protect privacy. Do not include home addresses, school names or other unnecessary identifying details.
  5. Include the young person. Ask them what they’re proudest of, and let the guardian share only what is appropriate.

Real-world inspiration

Malala Yousafzai became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate at 17 for her work supporting children’s right to education.

Where opportunity is growing

Skills on the rise for young people: coding, content creation, public speaking, financial know-how and caring for the planet.

Explore possibilities, build practical skills and look for ways to put your strengths to work. These examples are not job or income guarantees.

The Lemonade Stand With a Mission

An imagined example, not an actual IGNICON nominee, finalist or winner.

Imagine a 10-year-old named Theo whose lemonade stand gives half its earnings to the animal shelter down the road. By summer’s end, neighbors are lining up, the shelter has new kennels and Theo has learned more about business than he expected. Small hands, big heart. That’s Junior IGNICON.

Your questions, answered

Who can submit a Junior nomination?

A parent or legal guardian manages every Junior nomination. Teachers and coaches can recommend a young person, but a guardian must manage participation.

Can a child apply for themselves?

No. Junior IGNICON is nomination-only and guardian-managed. We use guardian contact details, not a child’s email.

What age range is eligible?

The current age bands are Sparks, ages 6–12, and Flames, ages 13–17. They are judged separately.

How is my child’s information used?

Share only what is needed for the nomination. Communications go to the guardian, and publication of a Junior profile or photo requires separate guardian permission. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Review the Official Rules, Terms and Privacy Policy for participation and permissions.

Nominations close December 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. Winners announced by January 31, 2027.

Free guardian-managed nominations. Young people do not apply for themselves.

Sharing is optional and never affects judging.

  • Sparks (6-12) and Flames (13-17) are judged separately
  • A parent or guardian must start or approve every entry
  • Junior entrants will need to complete at least three of five short, youth-focused courses. Course details are being developed; this requirement will not be enforced until enrollment and completion tracking are ready.

What did they accomplish?

  • Photos or a short video of the project
  • What the young person did themselves
  • A note from a teacher, coach or mentor
  • What they learned and what comes next

Junior IGNICON currently accepts free nominations only. The approved judging rubric is impact (30), innovation (25), leadership (20), results and growth (15), and community and purpose (10). Sharing, likes, votes and purchases earn no judging points. A parent or guardian manages participation and any sharing; the child does not need a social-media account. No Junior winners, judges or sponsors have been named.

Sharing is optional and never affects judging. Celebrate your nominee without changing their score. Social sharing, likes, votes and purchases of courses or other products do not count toward judged scores. People’s Pick is separate honorary recognition and carries no cash prize.

Include the nominee’s name and award category in your post. For Junior entries, only a parent or guardian may choose to share; the child does not need a social-media account. This is separate from written permission for IGNICON to publish a Junior profile or photo.

Child safety and privacy

  • Nothing about a minor is published until a parent or guardian confirms by email and consents.
  • Children under 13 never get their own account. A parent’s account holds the profile.
  • Public profiles show first name and last initial, age band, and city only. No contact details, messages or comments.
  • Photos appear only after parent approval.

Check your included benefits first. Flame entry includes a Letter of Distinction. Icon includes the letter, Spotlight Star, seven-day promotional ticker and entry advisory review when paid entry opens. Do not purchase these again if included in your entry tier.

Guardian-managed celebration

Any public mention of a young person needs separate written permission from a parent or guardian. Guardians can ask what is available; nothing is promoted without that permission.

Guardian: ask what is available

Included for every nominee: one year of digital access to The IGNICON Review. After that, renewal is optional at $1 per month or $10 per year—never automatically charged without consent.

Entry fees and the nominee kit are part of entry, not extras. Samples are illustrative layouts, not issued documents.

Ready to light a spark?

A parent or guardian starts the entry from a free account. Anyone else can nominate a young person from the home page form, which collects a parent or guardian contact. Nothing is published about a minor until a parent confirms.
